PoP Theatre Company and 'POI' There are many different varieties of POI. Sock Poi which are great for tricks, tribe poi for begginers and children, Flag Poi which give a fantastic effect and produce a great sound. These are just a few of the types around. Poi originated from the Maori's of New Zealand as away of keeping their warriors strong and flexible, it then became a form of dance which is what modern day poi performance is more closely linked to.

SPEEVER SOCK POI -- £7.99
These sock poi are are woven from a tough synthetic material. They have a draw string at the base allowing you to insert anything that is no bigger than a tennis ball into the end. These poi are great for hyper loops , air wraps, stalls , contact and wibbling although they do handle very differently to the stretchy lycra poi . The added bonus of these poi is that the holes in them allow light from your glow balls to shine through making a reliable and cheap set of glow poi. Comes with a pair of bags so you can make your own customizable weights with such fillings as rice, sand or bird seed.

These poi have short UV active split tails and soft bean bag heads making them ideal for both kids and beginners. The body is made from strong heavy duty nylon filled with plastic beads, and the tails are made from double hemmed ripstop nylon, so they won't fray. They come supplied with deluxe finger loops, 2 swivels (per poi) and their own carry bag. This set also comes with a tiny "Getting Started" booklet outlining basic moves such as the butter-fly, reel-turn and buzz-saw. For the price, this truly is a remarkable set of poi.
